One more unbelievable event in my life..........I guess I just sit back and watch life and find myself amazed at what life offers. Today was no exception to the rule!

I GOT MY STUFF BACK THAT WAS STOLEN!!! It was returned by a perfect stranger....GOD BLESS HER AND HER FAMILY!! I pray for them that life returns the favor. I was soooooooooo grateful.

Again, I can't talk about the details but I can say that I'm always surprised with life and it's been an emotional roller-coaster. I'll write more about this later as I'm allowed to share the circumstances.

You'll NEVER believe this........

OH MY GOD!! This is unbelievable.........we have only been living in our new place for 2 weeks and on Friday morning, when I woke up, two teenage boys broke into our house and stole some of our stuff out of the dining room! I couldn't believe it. Nothing like that has ever happened to me. And the nerve of them - WE WERE HOME IN OUR ROOMS - ALL OF US!! Those little fuckers!

I'd rather not list what they took, but the moral of the story is "everyone told me that living in Oceanside was crime riddled, we were taking a chance, blah blah blah - so we moved to Vista, safer, nicer neighborhood, home owners, less rentors, nice nice nice". CRAP!!

I just can't say more, since the Sheriff is still investigating........and they did investigate. Dusted for fingerprints, ground dogs, foot prints, I was impressed. So I want to publicly thank the San Diego County Sheriff's Department!! Let's hope they get enough on them to punish them.

I have a few ideas...........

If I won the Lottery

What would I do?

First, I would hope for enough money to live on for the rest of my life.

I would pay off all of mybills, quit working, take my honey to another country and get a kidney transplant, buy a house in all climates that I love - big house with a pool in Tucson, Arizona, beachhouse in SoCal, Cincinnati so I could be near my family, cabin in the mountains by Boulder!! Oh my, that would be AWESOME!! Then I would want to buy cars for the kids, my honey and myself. I would want to buy some nice presents for my friends.

Then after that, I would just want to contribute to help others: start a college scholarship fund with competition for women in technology; I think I would volunteer at a battered women's shelter; take in rescue dogs to save them from the gas chamber and find them homes; and travel to visit my friends and my houses!!

Oh yea, I would visit Dr. 90210 and get an assessment for some lifts, tucks, and makeover items. :)

There is one key about the lottery - you have to play to win!! I quit playing after I NEVER won, so all I can do is.....

DREAM! Hey, a girl can dream, can't she??

"REAL" pictures on blogs

Hi, one of my fellow "MyBlogLog"-ers commented on one of my entries earlier today about how people represent who they are. You see, on MyBlogLog, members post their pictures and then screen shots of their blogs plus write descriptions of their blogs. The goal is for people to sign up as readers to the blogs.

There are pictures people put on their blogs or put up to represent who they are. There are tons of "beautiful" people in the pictures to identify the blog/site owner to the real person behind the computer. The real question is "are the people who they say they are"?

Well, I wonder that same thing when I look at some of the pictures. But, really, living in SoCAL, I see tons of "beautiful" people all the time. Maybe it's the weather, maybe it's the plastic surgeons, maybe it's both, but SoCAL is famous for famous "BEAUTIFUL" people.

In my case, I am who I am....I represent myself honestly because I wouldn't know how to do anything else. Look, to some people my life is totally boring, to some people my writing is terrible. but to others it's interesting or fun or just "ok" because you are my friends. Some of you that read this are my friends, we know each other, we used to hang out or we do hang out. Some of you I don't know you personally, but we've chatted online. Some know me from MySpace. Some know me from MyBlogLog and some of you are my favorites - ANONYMOUS!!

No matter who is reading this, I will be myself. I show my face, the real face. I share pictures with everyone (look below at the wedding pics). I am honest, I have integrity. I treat this blog as an extension of myself. Whatever strikes me I write about. It's kind of like I talk to my friends. Same difference.

So, if I was going to use the statements above about REAL pics as a sociology study - I would say that in marketing some people thing that "innocent" lying is ok to a point. I say that if I have to lie to get people to read my blog then it's not worth it. But if people read it because I'm ME then it's so great!!

ENJOY!! and please keep the COMMENTS coming!

Writing for the sake of ...

I used to write a journal, with pen and paper in the cutest bound journal-with very cute designs on the paper and the covers. I bought most of them at TJ Maxx and when I think of the time I spent hand writing before I would go to bed each night. I don't think that I write that much any more at all!! In fact, I think just about everything I do is online.

What about you? Do you write with paper and pen much? Or are you like me, most of your writing is done on the computer.

You know, when I realized that I could write a blog and it could take the place of my journal, I was sold on the idea. I didn't worry about any problems I'd have by openly writing about my life. And for those of you that know me, you know that I don't hold anything back anyway!! I'm pretty much an open book. ---- Ah, that's ironic! Pun not intended.

In fact, I have all the emails that Roland and I shared when we were "dating" again. Before I moved out here. There are hundreds of them! I cherish them. I considered printing them like a book and using them as a basis of a book - but there's something so personal about them that I am not sure I would feel comfortable. I'll think about it.

Regardless, I love keeping a journal. I grew up in a house where my aunt Ruth kept a daily journal. She wrote in it every evening after dinner was cleaned up as she was resting from the events of the day. She would keep it right by her chair - she would write things like
  • what we did that day, if there was any special event we attended, you know, like a wedding or family reunion or something
  • some new recipe that she tried
  • if my Mom was driving her crazy - afterall they were sisters, 10 yrs apart and my aunt was very controlling and my mom was argumentative - the perfect combination for trouble
  • hours that my Uncle worked - he had 2 jobs, one as a firefighter and the other as a toy salesman at a store called Swallen's
  • my cousins
  • our neighbors
  • my friends
  • my behavior
  • the weather
hey, it's my blog!! :) Well, it's a good outlet and I do appreciate everyone that reads this. You mean alot to me and I appreciate it when you comment me. Please feel free - even just a "HELLO" is nice!! Don't forget to sign up for my Frappr Map (on the left nav) and scroll down to the bottom to see Jake & Michelle's wedding pics. I'll be taking those down soon.

take care and thanks again.

Blogging Community........very original and informative

Every night I try to take a little time to check out other people's blogs. I am so amazed at how many people are blogging and what they choose to write about. And I am SURE that I've only seen a small part of the tip of the iceberg. MyBlogLog allows me access to all sorts of blogs with a variety of topics.

One thing that is a common thread, if the blog owner is pictured (as opposed to an avatar, a cartoon character, a body part, or animated gif), the blog owners are smiling. The blogosphere members of MyBlogLog seem to be a happy lot - lots of smiles and friendly people.

And the topics are as diverse as people themselves are - some are technical, product specific, personal (like mine), about pets - dogs, cats, birds, name it, countries, cities, food, boyfriends/girlfriends, politics, school, marriage, divorce, kids, work and the list goes on and on. It's fun to read the blogs, get inside someone else's mind, experiences, and whatever else they allow.

I enjoy the blogs and will start adding my favorites here on my site. ALSO DON'T FORGET TO SCROLL ALL THE WAY DOWN TO SEE PICTURES OF THE WEDDING!!!!

Happy blogging!! But more importantly Happy Reading! I would not be a blog if no one read would be "Latin" feeble attempt at humor past my bedtime. :)

got settled in......kind of

I took off time from work to unpack, organize and make room for the corvette in the garage. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED - really!! We've been working hard getting the house together and trying to do it without spending alot of money in the process.

Spent about $250 and did some great bargain hunting: bought a bed, bookcase, rugs for the bathroom, rug for the living room and some misc. things. I am looking for suns & moons - especially because my favorite one got broken somewhere between my move from Cincy to this house (yep, I packed them up in Sept 2005 and haven't opened the box until this past Friday). I really want to find some fun suns for my sun room. I'll be out and about looking for great finds.

Roland has been cooking some great meals since we moved in homemade tacos, enchilados, spaghetti, breakfast burritos, and other assorted goodies for the girls. He loves to cook and we all love to eat. Speaking of eating, I am starting my diet. Have already lost 3 lbs. Hope to keep it going. Ever since my surgery, I haven't been able to walk and workout, gained about 9 lbs. Hope that I can get it off. I am going to start swimming, sit ups on exercise ball and various exercises with the ball. Hand weights, upper body and I found the other day some "CHAIR YOGA". I'm going to give it a try.

One other thing-I want to thank the people from mybloglog that are reading my blog. It's been an exciting couple weeks to see over 300 people have read my profile, a constant stream of folks that have read my blog and hopefully more will join my blog community.

Uh-oh - ONE MORE THING REALLY!!! Saw 3 movies in the last couple weekends - The Messengers, Hannibal Rising, and Ghost Rider. I know the critics weren't too nice to the first two, but I liked them; thought Hannibal Rising was good, well put together to match the Silence of the Lambs. The Messengers was interesting - the story had a twist. I like a good scary movie that is suspenseful and has a twist - this story had it. :) Ghost Rider was typical super hero, boy loves girl, can't have girl because he's a super hero - but he's a super hero that is in debt to Satan. A bit strange. But for the fun of it.

I'll post pics of the new place by the weekend. Have a great week at work!!

Happy Valentine's Day

SURPRISE!! I got flowers delivered to my office today from my sweetie!! Wow! The best part is that I totally did not expect this because I have always looked at Valentine's Day as a day for kids to have fun at school, have a party, make sentences out of candy hearts and generally show who they have crushes on!!
For adults, I see it as a "hallmark holiday", created so the card, candy, restaurants, and more can have one more excuse to take money out of your pocket. I'm not a cynic, I just think that love should be every day and not just celebrated one day a year. I'm sure there are others out there that think this same way.
In fact, it's 7pm and I'm still at work. Mostly women are left here because the guys had to scoot home for dinners out, and all the other stuff that goes with the holiday. Well, good for them and their wives, hope they can live up to it year after year. Seems like alot of pressure.
Oh well, the surprise was fantastic! I love him and I know that he loves me. It was just great to get flowers at work and for him to show me! He's terrific!
Happy Valentine's Day! I Love You!!

Organization, Program Management = WORK

It's funny, seems like no matter which hat I'm wearing, I'm always a Project Manager. At home - like with the move, packing, unpacking, organizing, arranging and rearranging - all takes project management skills. At work - balancing all the responsibilities of my role - delivery management, risk management, time management, and release management - all part of the project management background and it's what I do every day.

I love doing being a program manager, I love the feeling of accomplishing something every day. I love making a difference and actually influencing an outcome. It's exciting to help keep the plates spinning.

But as all good things - sometimes they wear you out. And right now, I'm tired - the work load + the move = TIRED!! heehee!!

So, I bid you adieu...and will write more later. I'll try to take some pics of the new place (after I get the boxes out of the way completely) and tell you how wonderful life is!

Moving day

All I can say is THANK GOD MY DAUGHTERS ARE HERE!!! They worked their butts off today, all day long. They carried, loaded, packed, unloaded, unpacked, catch the drift. Anyway, their friends showed up, but they had done most of the work before they even got there.

We got everything out and in the new place. I whipped. Tomorrow will be day one of unpacking, organizing, and hopefully - we'll take in a movie, just to have something relaxing to do. Hmm...what to see? Maybe the Messengers or Hannibal Rising. Decisions...decisions!!

One last word .... moving tomorrow

I'm moving tomorrow. I will take pictures of my new place - post them so you can see it. I am VERY excited.

We took all the plants over to the new place today. We have tons of plants, in fact, a whole truck bed full! I have a few pics of my plants, but certainly not all of them.

I love my plants! Although, I have to say they don't look all that great right now, just going through winter. Even in San Diego we have had some freezing temps and I didn't bring my plants in because I had no place to put them!! So, I do have some work to get them looking great again.

I have plenty of room in the new place to repair, love and make them all amazing looking again.

My MySpace

When I moved to California, I left behind in Cincinnati my 3 (adult) children, lots of friends and family. In an effort to keep in touch with everyone I used the tools available on the Internet: email, my blog, and MySpace, mainly to keep track of my kids.

I opened it up to the public today, taking the advice of an "anonymous" site visitor, who pointed out that I have a link to MySpace but had the security set to private. So, if you want to check it out please feel free, leave me a comment, and keep in mind, the site is just for fun!!

The link is:

Have fun and be safe out there!!

Increased traffic

Well, I told you a few days ago that I joined MyBlogLog and I have found some GREAT blogs out there, fun to read, lots of pictures (I really need to put in more pictures), great personality. I'll start adding them to my list. But what I've already noticed is the traffic on my site has increased from my fellow MyBlogLoggers!!

Plus, its fun to see how people find my blog from google searches and people really click on the link and come here. THANKS!!

Now that I've been checking out other blogs, I am going to start putting more pictures on my site. I am not going to worry about starting it until after I get moved, but I will start adding pictures, everyday if I can.

Moving this weekend!! Been taking loads of boxes to the new place. I am pleased with the progress and tomorrow night I should have everything packed up that is still sitting around and I'll be ready to go on Sat. Wow, one year here in this little apartment, with the noisy neighbors, the unsupervised kids, the police always in our parking lot sometimes with guns drawn and I won't miss it. I'll definitely post pics of the new place :)

I probably won't write until over the weekend. Oh yea, Anna Nicole Smith died case you just crawled out from under a rock and haven't listened to the radio, read the newspaper OR watched TV. They still haven't said what happened, but I would probably guess that drugs and alcohol have something to do with it. I guess inquiriing minds will want to know.

American Idol is back and I've been watching the auditions with my daughters. It has been so much fun and now we go to the first round in Hollywood (or Hollyweird as Randy has been calling it) next week. I won't get my favorites just yet, I'll watch and see how everyone does, but I'll definitely find my favorite and support them.

Strange huh?

I have some favorite TV shows, can you believe it? I used to not watch so much TV, but I guess I have been watching it more since my surgery. Here's my favorite TV shows.

American Idol
Deal Or No Deal
Crossing Jordan
CSI (Las Vegas)
My Name Is Earl
The Office
Will & Grace (in reruns now)
and I watch news programs

The funny thing is that I don't generally watch TV while it's live. Mostly, I tivo it and watch it later. I like to blow through the commercials, rewind and rewatch!! It's fun.

Joined MyBlogLog

I was surfing around, looking for perhaps a picture widget or some nice tool for me to add pictures to this blog, when I found this cool community of bloggers - MyBlogLog. It's actually a nice collection of blogs - all sorts of them - all registered and linked into a single place. They have cool widgets and site stat tools to use, plus you can find blogs of all kinds of interest.

I'm still not done exploring and I'll be adding more links to my page, maybe even changing the layout again! The more I look around, the more I feel inspired to write in my blog, post pics and keep my journal alive.

Skyline Chili, Cincy, and B-Drive

What is it about a friend visiting? IT’S FABULOUS!!! B-Drive is here visiting for 3 days and unfortunately those days are working days, but we knew in advance that it would be like this. Regardless, I am so happy that he is here. We have been friends for 11 years now. We met at UC, became INSTANT friends, took classes together, lived next to each other, really became integrated into each other’s lives. The last time we saw each other was Dec 2005 until yesterday. Wow!!

I watched him mature into a wonderful, responsible man – well, he was always wonderful and responsible and a man, but now he is one nice package all rolled up into one. He has a great girlfriend (who I still hope to meet soon), his own computer business, a real estate endeavor which was very successful, comes from a wonderful family and great parents, has some of the funniest friends I’ve ever seen, has the most friends of anyone I know, well traveled and a seasoned, experienced man. And on top of it all, he’s kind, sensitive and loving! I’m proud to call him my friend. Overall, I would vote him to be one of the best men I have ever met.

He has watched my kids grow up and is still very involved with them. He has always cared for them and they for him. Since he still lives in Cincy and so does my son, it’s nice to know that he’s there for moral support from time to time as needed. Honestly, he could have been my little brother and in another life, we most definitely had to be connected in some way.

So this is how we are when we’re together – we laugh, talk, drink, eat and talk more. We talk on top of each other, we debate political issues – sometimes I think we should not. Sometimes we agree, but more than likely we don’t. He’s more liberal than I am – but he also remembers a time when I was more liberal. My politics changed after 9/11 and as my kids grew up. Maybe I learned some things the hard way that he hasn’t learned, maybe it’s my upbringing coming out in me – but I am more conservative now than I used to be. So, as you can well imagine, it’s a point of debate, healthy debate I might add.

Regardless of our politics, we have a deep love, caring and best interest in mind for each other. We will remain friends the rest of our lives. Funny, how that happens in our journey. Meeting people in the strangest ways, but connecting instantly. It’s undeniable that it’s fate or kismet or whatever you may want to call it. But when it happens it’s real and it lasts. So, for the next 2 days I am going to enjoy as much of his time as I can.

Oh yea, thanks for the Skyline – he brought us an entire CASE of Skyline!! I love it!!
