Halloween Countdown

Look how big.....

It's great to be a grandma, again!!

Last night I was babysitting, so I got to take all sorts of pictures of Lyrikah. She's 7 weeks old today and my oh my, how she's grown. When she went to the Dr. last week she was a little more than 12 lbs!! She's starting to fill out and her little legs are definitely getting longer!! She tries to sit up, push off of you with her legs and her favorite place to be is hanging over your shoulder!! She reminds me of her mother.

While I was babysitting, we were looking at pictures of her cousin, Abigail. Remember when she visited in August? Well, it's only a month but check out these pictures that Michelle posted. Oh my little sweetie!! She is really getting big!

Michelle took a whole series of her in her stroller. She is a happy baby that's for sure, always smiling, strong, sitting up by herself, crawling and trying to walk!! And she's only 5 months old. I'm not sure when Michelle took these pics, but in a month she's grown so much!! She is definitely her Father's Girl!! Wow! The whole family will be here in November, there will be lots and lots of pictures of all of us that weekend. Can't wait to see Abi, Michelle and Jake!

Friend Inventory - it's NATIONAL GIRLFRIEND MONTH

Girlfriends: they are wonderful to have, a source of comfort, support, laughter, tears, help and I don't know what I would have done without them!! I consider myself VERY fortunate to have some friends for a LONG time.

1 since Kindergarten, too many years to even say them out loud.
1 since 7 grade, 12 years old.
1 since 1977
1 since 1997
and my newest for the last 1 1/2 years

It's easy to make "acquaintances" and I have tons of them. But it's not as easy to make friends, and honestly, it's best that way. Friends have to trust each other. They know too much about the other person and frankly, some of the things they know about you, they're the only ones that do. So, it's even more important that you trust each other.

I can't imagine what my life would be without my girlfriends. It would have been a sad and lonely place, that's for sure. They have been there with me through thick & thin, good & bad relationships, child births, wine nights, lamenting about a better life, happy to be alive, celebrations, weddings, breakups, house buying, car repairs, deaths, just to name a few.

Here's the sad part - over the years, I have found it mentally healthy to do a "friend inventory". You know, you look at the girlfriends you have and ask yourself, why am I friends with them? Positive? Negative? Who benefits? Is it TRULY a friendship? What would my life look like without them? Is my friend benefitting from being my friend while being a pain in the ass to me? (And we have all had a friend like that!!) It's ok to identify who and why you're friends. And if the friendship is still warm in your heart, great. But on the other hand it's perfectly alright to cut that person out of your friend list.

So, for all you women struggling with friends that are not nice to you, talk smack, stab you in the back, use you for "something" you don't want to be used for, I advise you to take the "friend inventory". Ask the tough questions, then make your decisions based on facts, not emotions. Good luck! Hope you find you have more friends that you love than you have to cut.

Birthday presents

I got some great birthday presents!! 2 hanks of sock yarn, a set of Zephyr needles, 2 beed books, crimpers and a beautiful necklace made from rose and smokey quartz, fresh water pearls and pewter.

PLUS we went to see The Moody Blues! We go every time they come to town no matter where we live. Their songs really have a meaning to us - :)  Ah.....

Knitting at Starbucks

This morning I had a morning meeting with a friend, she was late, so I had time to knit while waiting. I carry my knitting with me whereever I go because I never know when I will have a few minutes to knit. I used to always be on my computer, tweet incessently, but now, when I have a minute here or there - I knit.

I'm about 15% complete with my project, it's been 11 days since I started. But in the meantime, alot has happened on the personal front and that's taken a great deal of my time away. Things "appear" to be settling down, so let's hope that I can  concentrate and finish my projects.

I'll be planning a wedding for Thanksgiving. I would like to knit a purse to carry that day - something glittery with beads. Maybe I'm not that experienced of a knitter to accomplish that, but I sure can try!!
