A Heart For God

I have run into some very interesting people on Twitter over the past 6 months or so. Some I follow because they are local to Cincinnati friends, colleagues, networking buds; some I quit following because they are just too radical for me; some I only know via Twitter but they tweet good content both political and uplifting (encouraging, Christian messages).

One of those is A Heart For God. He calls himself Pastor Mike. Don't know if he is a "pastor" in the true sense of the word (you know, has been ordained, has a church building where the body of Christ meets, etc.) but I do know he has quite an online following. He is on every social media outlet on the Internet with over 20K followers. He may be one of the first Pastors that I've heard of that leads a "virtual" church.

I've read quite a few of his posts and find they are very insightful, encouraging and uplifting. Seems his target audience is men, which as a Christian woman, I can really appreciate someone targeting men to encourage them and teach them the way God wants them to be. He posts teaching series, music, sermons, his blogs, other Bible sources.

I'm linking to this particular post: the 10 Commandments of Blogging -- If Moses was a blogger, what would the 10 commandments look like.  It's fun to read and like most of his posts, enlightening. Thanks Pastor Mike!!

I thought I'd share him with everyone, since I enjoy reading his messages and tweets. I hope you enjoy him as well.

Today's Heavenly Thought

Working from home....

Some people are good at it. They get so much more done at home than they do in the office. Sometimes I'm one of those people. I can concentrate more in my office, where I control the environment, the interruptions, the workflow, the information. All of those things are important, but then there are other times when I feel it's absolutely imperative to be in the office. It's easier to interface directly with others to resolve issues, gain knowledge, get information or instruction.

Today was a good day to work from home. I accomplished quite a bit and will probably work a little more over the weekend and definitely on Monday. I'm not much of a New Year's Eve person, would prefer to stay home with my honey and have our own little party, if you know what I mean!

Tonight, we're going to head out to look at Christmas lights. It's kind of rainy, but I think people will turn on their holiday lights in spite of it. We'll see. All we'll do is spend time and a little gas in the car. If the pictures will come out, I'll post them tomorrow.

Take care and have a great night!

Regular Blogging

I'm saying it again, I hope that this time I stick to it. It's my New Years Resolution, a little early. I'm going to blog regularly again. Even if it's only a few lines every day. I will find a few minutes just to jot down my thoughts.

And of course, I'm going to lose weight - that's my two big resolutions. AGAIN!!

Hit the gym, walk alot, ride a bike and blog. Doesn't seem too bad.

New Music On My Blog

Good morning!! I had some fun last night finding a new music player for my blog and for myspace. Check it out! It's a great addition and helps my blog be more of a destination - which will help me write in it more often :)

I hope you enjoy the tunes!

What do I want to be when I grow up??

Here I am again, wishing I had time to write daily. Trying to get through every day and have enough time to feel like I have an evening for myself. It's crazy

  • 5 am - get up close to that time daily
  • 6:30 am - leave for the train station
  • 6:40 am - catch the train
  • 7:30 am - arrive at my office
  • 4:50 pm - catch the shuttle
  • 6:00 pm - get back home
  • take the dog for a walk, fix dinner, eat
  • 9:30 pm - go to bed

That's my day and I still can't get over how much time I spend getting ready for work, working and then coming home! It's amazing. I know I committed to at least write a quick note daily.

I wish my job was blogging. Wouldn't that be great? I'd love to do a politic blog, have a talk radio program and just BITCH BITCH BITCH, and let everyone call me and BITCH! It would be soooooooo much fun!

Happy Wednesday - over the hump!

Been a busy day, filled with events:
  1. Beka safely arrived in Cincinnati tonight, vacationing there for 3 1/2 weeks.
  2. Dealt with rush hour traffic on I-5 South this morning and North after work. Made me appreciate the train :)
  3. Took Snicker for a walk. I still can't get him to walk good everytime. I am not going to give up, keep trying, he pulls, I correct, we walk.
  4. had a Venti Coffee Light Frappicino and a piece of low-fat Blueberry Coffee cake from Starbucks for dinner!!
  5. BLOGGED!!

My work here is done, a very successful day all-in-all!! More tomorrow

Have not been writing regularly

Several of my readers have sent me messages wondering if I have fallen off the face of the earth since I'm not writing regularly. Thankfully, I am still around! I have just been extremely busy with my new job and there's nothing really interesting going on - I just go to work, ride the train, come home (total 11 hrs or so), walk the dog, eat dinner. Nothing overly exciting! I don't have much time for too much. By the time I have dinner, I have about an 1 1/2 hrs to relax, read, catch up on housework, or whatever I might have to do. I try to just hang out at the house and do as little as possible.

Then on the weekends, I spend my Sat morning running errands: bank, farmer's market, library, grocery store, walmart and any other errands. We go to the movie every weekend as long as there's something interesting to see. Usually there is. But as you can see, my life is pretty "normal" "boring" and not too much to write about right now.

I do have some fun plans coming up, worthy of writing about :)

  1. going to a star gazing class this weekend with my telescope that I got for Christmas
  2. taking my daughter to the airport because she's travelling back to Ohio for a nice, long visit
  3. planning my own trips back to Ohio for a visit this fall
  4. planning a trip with my family to Lake Tahoe

Some of those will be fun to do and I will have pictures and something to write about. So for now, I have to go to work. Everyone take care and I will try to write a "small" blurb daily - I promise!!

Happy Monday!!

Week 2 and all goes well. Tomorrow I have my first face-to-face meetings with a client, which I'm looking forward to! I rode the Coaster again today and that went well. The job is a good thing!!

This week is finale week: tonight is the season finale of two of my favorite shows - 24 and Heroes. Thank God for TIVO!! Going to watch Jack Bauer kick some ass on 24 and save Heroes for another day....:) Then who will be the next American Idol? Will it be Blake or Jordin? What do you think?

This week I'm going to enjoy my new job, enjoy the finales, and write all about it!! :)

Writing for the sake of ...

Writing

I used to write a journal, with pen and paper in the cutest bound journal-with very cute designs on the paper and the covers. I bought most of them at TJ Maxx and when I think of the time I spent hand writing before I would go to bed each night. I don't think that I write that much any more at all!! In fact, I think just about everything I do is online.

What about you? Do you write with paper and pen much? Or are you like me, most of your writing is done on the computer.

You know, when I realized that I could write a blog and it could take the place of my journal, I was sold on the idea. I didn't worry about any problems I'd have by openly writing about my life. And for those of you that know me, you know that I don't hold anything back anyway!! I'm pretty much an open book. ---- Ah, that's ironic! Pun not intended.

In fact, I have all the emails that Roland and I shared when we were "dating" again. Before I moved out here. There are hundreds of them! I cherish them. I considered printing them like a book and using them as a basis of a book - but there's something so personal about them that I am not sure I would feel comfortable. I'll think about it.

Regardless, I love keeping a journal. I grew up in a house where my aunt Ruth kept a daily journal. She wrote in it every evening after dinner was cleaned up as she was resting from the events of the day. She would keep it right by her chair - she would write things like
  • what we did that day, if there was any special event we attended, you know, like a wedding or family reunion or something
  • some new recipe that she tried
  • if my Mom was driving her crazy - afterall they were sisters, 10 yrs apart and my aunt was very controlling and my mom was argumentative - the perfect combination for trouble
  • hours that my Uncle worked - he had 2 jobs, one as a firefighter and the other as a toy salesman at a store called Swallen's
  • my cousins
  • our neighbors
  • my friends
  • my behavior
  • the weather
hey, it's my blog!! :) Well, it's a good outlet and I do appreciate everyone that reads this. You mean alot to me and I appreciate it when you comment me. Please feel free - even just a "HELLO" is nice!! Don't forget to sign up for my Frappr Map (on the left nav) and scroll down to the bottom to see Jake & Michelle's wedding pics. I'll be taking those down soon.

take care and thanks again.

Blogging Community........very original and informative

Every night I try to take a little time to check out other people's blogs. I am so amazed at how many people are blogging and what they choose to write about. And I am SURE that I've only seen a small part of the tip of the iceberg. MyBlogLog allows me access to all sorts of blogs with a variety of topics.

One thing that is a common thread, if the blog owner is pictured (as opposed to an avatar, a cartoon character, a body part, or animated gif), the blog owners are smiling. The blogosphere members of MyBlogLog seem to be a happy lot - lots of smiles and friendly people.

And the topics are as diverse as people themselves are - some are technical, product specific, personal (like mine), about pets - dogs, cats, birds, spiders....you name it, countries, cities, food, boyfriends/girlfriends, politics, school, marriage, divorce, kids, work and the list goes on and on. It's fun to read the blogs, get inside someone else's mind, experiences, and whatever else they allow.

I enjoy the blogs and will start adding my favorites here on my site. ALSO DON'T FORGET TO SCROLL ALL THE WAY DOWN TO SEE PICTURES OF THE WEDDING!!!!

Happy blogging!! But more importantly Happy Reading! I would not be a blog if no one read it....it would be "Latin"......my feeble attempt at humor past my bedtime. :)

My MySpace

When I moved to California, I left behind in Cincinnati my 3 (adult) children, lots of friends and family. In an effort to keep in touch with everyone I used the tools available on the Internet: email, my blog, and MySpace, mainly to keep track of my kids.

I opened it up to the public today, taking the advice of an "anonymous" site visitor, who pointed out that I have a link to MySpace but had the security set to private. So, if you want to check it out please feel free, leave me a comment, and keep in mind, the site is just for fun!!

The link is: www.myspace.com/webgurl

Have fun and be safe out there!!

Joined MyBlogLog

I was surfing around, looking for perhaps a picture widget or some nice tool for me to add pictures to this blog, when I found this cool community of bloggers - MyBlogLog. It's actually a nice collection of blogs - all sorts of them - all registered and linked into a single place. They have cool widgets and site stat tools to use, plus you can find blogs of all kinds of interest.

I'm still not done exploring and I'll be adding more links to my page, maybe even changing the layout again! The more I look around, the more I feel inspired to write in my blog, post pics and keep my journal alive.

Hey Google, here's a limitation that should be fixed!! I have been using Google Docs & Spreadsheets to publish to my blog because it's easy, convenient and I can start something, get interruped and it saves it for me to come back to later. I tend to be long-winded, can't help myself, I have lots of words inside of me dying to get out. As a result, I think I uncovered a limitation today. I have been able to publish my blogs, no problem, until my last one. it was kind of long and it kept throwing an error from the tools. But this one published, so it's not the settings, it's a size limitation!!

Thought I'd upgrade my blog, give it a face-lift, upgrade to Blogger Beta, and do a little maintenance. Personally, I really like the new Blogger and I hope you're enjoying it too!!
