Road To Recovery

June 15th I had Achilles tendon repair surgery, it included replacing one bone in my ankle. My foot/leg was casted for 6 weeks, one pink and one yellow. I had to get around on a knee roller because I could put no weight on my left foot during this entire time. We had to make all sorts of special accommodations for me so I could have a semi-normal life:
  • a chair that was a little higher and had arm rests so I could easily get up and down.
  • my hubby added something similar to the toilet, so I could have hand grips to hold on to.
  • I had a special shower seat that extended out of the bathtub so my leg could easily stay out of the water.
  • borrowed a wheelchair which I used a couple of times.
  • had crutches which I used alot to go up and down a few steps.
  • had a walker which I barely used.
Then August 1st, I had surgery #2 - tissue manipulation of my toes, cleaned up a bunion and I went from cast to wrap. Still non-weight bearing for the next 2 months. I used the knee roller for about 15 weeks and I have to say it was a God-send. I don't know if I could have survived at work on crutches.

Now I'm 4 weeks into walking, first 2 were on my heel. It's getting better, still really swollen and now I hang with a cane just in case I need some "support" or "confidence".

I couldn't have made it through this whole ordeal without my husband's help. He drove me everywhere for 15 or so weeks, he lifted my knee roller in and out of the car, did the grocery shopping and cooking, washed all the laundry, ran all the errands. All I had to do was work, read, knit and concentrate on healing. Even though I didn't get to really enjoy the summer with the normal activities - I didn't have to worry about anything either. I love you honey!! Thanks!

My husband's kidney transplant

We are all abuzz at our house as we get closer to the kidney transplant date. Today, we spent most of the day at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. He had pre-admission testing, meetings with the transplant coordinator, learned what to expect in the next week, the day of the transplant and the next 90 days afterwards.

We are very excited and thankful to have this opportunity. We're glad to live in a time when organ transplants are even possible, much less "common place". It's truly a miracle.

wow, it's been a month!!

Time sure is flying by. I hadn't realized it had been a month since I last updated my blog. Unfortunately, I am out the door heading to the office but I can give a quick update to all the latest:
  1. Received my cello last week, it's been set up, new strings and I took my first private lesson last night. This is gonna be fun. I'll post some pictures that Roland took!! (This is my anniversary and Christmas present)
  2. Roland got a new camera, see #1, for his anniversary and Christmas present. It is a Nikon D-SLR camera with add'l lenses and the "works". He's tickled!! He never thought he'd like a digital camera, well, this is no run of the mill digital camera for sure! It takes fabulous pictures. I'll post some soon.
  3. Working at a new client. New client + new project = EXTREMELY BUSY, trying to fit everything else in to my life. I find myself really tired for now.
  4. A friend of mine invited me to work with her to establish and launch and maintain a new non-profit foundation. I'll post more about that later too. It's a GREAT idea.
  5. and finally, I saved the BEST FOR LAST - Roland's KIDNEY TRANSPLANT is scheduled for November 9th. He has 2 more Dr appts, one of those is collecting last minute blood and a few other quick tests to make sure nothing has changed. We're so blessed and excited to receive this organ - it is truly giving him a new lease on life. The donor is anonymous and whoever you are - you will never really know how much this means to us. We are overwhelmed with your caring and generosity!!
So as you see, I've been very busy and have some busy times coming up. I'll expand on a few of these later with pics.

One last note: (10/16) Happy Birthday Mom, I'm sure you're looking down and happy to see how your daughter's life is turning out!! Love you!!!!!

memory

OMG! Don't you hate it when you can't remember someone's name or where you put your keys or what you just did???? I am so trying to remember my friend's granddaughter's name. We met them in California, I haven't seen them in over a year, but I should remember her name. We took her to the Del Mar Fair!! YIKES!! What is it?????

12 Day past surgery

Day 12, I'm doing pretty good - my foot seems to be healing very nicely. I can get around quite well with my "moon boot". I plan on going back into the office tomorrow afternoon - I managed to come home Monday at lunch and stay home each day until tomorrow. But it's ok, I need to get out of the house for a while. Besides, I have meetings with my project team, so I need to be there.

Glad that I went to Dr. Roof - I go see him Friday morning - hoping for good news!!

Revival Lakeland Florida

What a pouring of the Holy Spirit!! Todd Bentley is leading a revolutionary revival - 50 days in Lakeland Florida. There are so many people coming from all over the country and the world that they quickly outgrew the church and now they are in a building at a small airport close-by with plenty of room for parking and camping.

Check out some of the websites:

The Florida Outpouring http://floridaoutpouring.com - live video streaming from Lakeland
Fresh Fire Minitries http://www.freshfire.ca/

People are being healed of all ailments; as of the last I heard earlier today 13 people have been raised from the DEAD!! Yes, from the dead - they were clinically dead and are not only alive, but healed and no matter how long they were "dead" they have al brain function - it's awesome!! Read more and judge for yourself.

We're thinking of taking a road trip - kidney healing, arthritis healing, worship with 10,000 + Christians, how totally AWESOME!! I can only imagine what it would be like for Roland to be healed, his kidney disease gone, his diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol all gone - Hallelujah! Jesus is the GREAT HEALER! What a wonderful gift from God to be healed.

check it out and tell me what you think. When I googled Todd Bentley I found skeptics (of course), lots of churches that support him, tons of websites and even a You Tube video claiming he's the antichrist - you judge for yourself.

healthy living

My son and his wife were just here showing me some of the health products they sell with their business. I think it's great because they are really into it, they like the products and gave me samples. Has anyone ever heard of Quixtar? They have "exclusive" products that are making eating and staying healthy simple. If it's simple will we do it?

I already try, but sometimes the cravings take over. If there are healthful alternatives maybe the cravings can be controlled. I'm going to try...........I've been on vacation and so far it's been an EAT-FEST!! Good thing there wasn't Oktoberfest while we were in town - we ate enough Cincinnati food - Skyline, Frisch's, White Castle (yes, against my will I had a cheeseburger), Riley's, IHOP (and it was horrid), Cazadore's, Dancing Wasabe (absolutely wonderful), and my favorite the cookout at my friend's with all the home cooking.

We have one more day here in town, then when we get up Wed. morning, we're heading back to San Diego. One of these days, it will be the opposite way...we'll be leaving San Diego and heading back home.
