Charlie

Our poor doggy - Charlie - is sick. He's at the vet's since yesterday evening. They are running tests to see what's wrong with him. X-rays, blood tests, barium study, IV because he was dehydrated, and a few more things. They thought at first it might be Parvo - and even though he's been vaccinated he could still contract it. They checked his blood to see if he ate a small animal that might have been poisoned, thus poisoning himself and luckily it was neither of those. But they still don't know what it is.

They are looking either for something in his stomach that he ate and can't pass OR for something outside of his stomach (like a tumor) that is pushing on his stomach. And unfortunately, it's sooooo expensive that it's hard to know how much cost is too much. I'll keep you posted.

Happy Memorial Day...always remember the soldiers

Today is just one holiday set aside to honor our veterans. In my own family my Grandfather served in the Spanish American War in the later 1800's. My father served in the Army Air Corps (which later became the Air Force) and then the Air Force; he fought in both WWII and Korea. My Mother was even a volunteer nurse's aid while she was married to my Father and traveling with him. He later retired from the service in the 60's. I honor their memories not just because they are my family, but because they were patriotic and taught me to honor my country.

Today I remember, honor and appreciate all those who served my country to preserve our right of freedom. I appreciate that we have the right to speak freely, to have opposing opinions, to vote our hearts in the polls and to support our government in local ways. It's a wonderful country and for those of you that have never gone to another country - please do - then you can understand how fortunate we are to live in America.

All past, present and future soldiers, I SALUTE YOU!!

Snicker at the vet

I took Snicker to see Dr. Pyne at Fallbrook Veternary Hospital. First off, I can't say enough about how GREAT this vet is! He is wonderful with the animals and the owners. I just love going there and so does Snicker. He knows everyone and is happy to see all of them, especially Brian! So thanks to them for being so wonderful.

Dr. Pyne gave Snicker a 'clean bill of health", which is SUPER FANTASTIC!! He has been through so much and to come out of it so quickly is amazing. Dr. Pyne was very pleased with how well he is, how healthy he is and how the mites that caused him tons of issues are GONE!! YIPPEE!!

Plus, I found out that Snicker is a Pug/Chihuahua mix or they called him a CHUG!! That fits him so perfectly ;) He weights 17.3 lbs, up .8 lbs from 2 weeks ago. He is such a good boy and he really showed off at the vet that he knows how to 'sit', 'down', 'watch me', 'take it', 'drop it', 'leave it', 'loose leash walk', and be really, really good. He showed off as much as he could, kissing and wagging all over everyone that works there.

So, Snicker is happy, healthy, smart and doing excellent. I'm a happy owner and will keep on teaching him as much as I can learn. Thanks to Critter Crossings for finding him for me. It certainly is a match made in HEAVEN!

The Deed is Done

Rusty is spending the night at the kennel waiting for his new family. I hope that he finds just the right person. He's a totally sweet little guy, loving, cuddly, affectionate - it's hard to believe that he hates other dogs so much. I took him to Starbucks this morning to get a coffee. There were people outside having their coffee with their dogs. We were in the car and he was snarling and growling and barking - trying to get to them. It really scared me to get out of the car, in case he bolted. But my neighborhood Starbucks, isn't a drive thru, so I have to get out if I wanted coffee.

Then when I took him to the kennel, they knew him and already had a place reserved for him, all by himself. Couldn't put him in with another dog. I realize that even though I cried because I'm already so attached, he wasn't the right dog for me. And the right dog is out there for me!

I want a small dog, under 10 lbs, short hair, nice temperament, socialized, loving, cuddly, loves people and other dogs. I want to take him to the dog park, the dog beach, play outside, walks in the neighborhood, put him or her in my purse and carry them around with me. That would be alot of fun! Any suggestions? A chi? yorkie? min pin?

Vet Checked!! Rusty ok

Back from the Vet, seems Rusty has a bacterial infection in his tummy. Got 3 prescriptions, removed the stitches from his "manhood snips" and told us to feed him more, let him decide how much he wants to eat. :)

It's all good and I'm relieved - gonna get the pet insurance though, because all of that costs $200!! $95 of it was just X-Rays.....pretty costly. But it's good that they are so thorough.

I'll upload more pictures in a day or two once he's feeling back to "normal".

Worrying about Rusty

I'm not sure yet what's the matter with Rusty. But after I wrote last night, his tummy started churning and he ended up with diarrhea and vomiting. I let him out and he ate grass, which I was trying to get him to stop doing, then a few minutes later he pooped grass mixed with poo. I held him and rubbed him tummy, kept taking him out but really had to watch him because everytime he went out he tried to eat grass.

He's heading to the vet right now, my honey is taking him. Unfortunately, I can't go, I have to get ready for work. (We've been so busy at work and so much pressure is on to be there everyday and take care of so many things.) I'm so worried about Rusty, his coat is drying out, but I would expect that with all the diarrhea and vomiting. I stayed up most of the night worrying about him, cuddling him and checking on him. He did get up around 2am and did it again. Poor baby!

I hope and pray that everything is ok with him. I hope the vet can prescribe something, suggest something or do something. In the meantime, all I can do is pray for him and hope for the best. I have to get ready for work and leave shortly. I don't know what else to say....
