today is the day
still have some small but important things to take care of today. It's going to be busy but GREAT! Today we are getting married. All of my children are in town and most of my family. My friends will be there and it will be a joyous celebration - one that I've waited for my entire life.
Thank God for bringing us together at just the right time in our lives.

Holiday Weekend aka Wedding Weekend
I haven't had a chance to write lately because I've been so busy:
Happy Thanksgiving and here's to a WONDERFUL WEDDING ON FRIDAY!!
Thanks for reading my Heavenly Thoughts
- working - kicking off a project takes a lot of time, especially this one!!
- planning the wedding - just pulling everything together, making sure we have bought everything we need.
- planning the food for the weekend with the kids, family and friends. We have lots of activities planned for the weekend so it's gonna be a BLAST!!
- Beka moved - so we helped her get settled, went shopping for her - a little early Christmas / Birthday present :)
- helping out on a friend's website - I have a dear friend who is launching a website next week but isn't technical, so I've been helping her get it ready.
- knitting - has been last on the list, but I have to finish my beaded shawl for my company holiday party on 12/4. I only have about 15 rows to go --- I am going to find time this weekend to work on it while I'm hanging out with the girlfriends.

End of the World Hollywood Blockbuster 2012
Went to the movie tonight to see the newly released Hollywood Blockbuster, 2012. We went because a.) it's another end of the world movie b.) the trailer was good enough to entice us to spend $20 and c.) why miss a chance to be either extremely disappointed or pleasantly surprised.
I'm happy to say that we're very surprised. Thought the movie was done quite well. The special effects were phenomenal and it sure makes me glad it was a Hollywood film and not happening in real life.
Of course, no one knows the day or the time when the world will come to an end, even the Mayans. However, I respect the supposition that Winter Solstice 2012 will begin the events that will end the world as we know it.
Good movie, lots of action and tears, reminds us of the importance of family and gives us hope that people will survive. I just hope it's not just rich people.....as it was presented in the movie. What a totally sucky place it would be to live with only rich people. Can you imagine? Who would cook, clean, and take care of the children! LOL!!

Cataract Surgery
Roland went to the surgeon this morning as a follow up to yesterday's cataract surgery. All is well, in fact the Dr. said it's all "PERFECT". I REALLY was happy to hear that!!! He's well on the path to big success and then the right eye in December.
I love him so much and am so glad for him that it's all good.
only 16 days to the BIG day - marriage. Ahhhh. Peace and Joy in my heart!

Wedding 19 days and counting :)
wow, it's coming so fast. The most important part of this whole process is having all of my kids and our entire family together to celebrate with our friends. It's going to be so much fun. I just hope it turns out as I have imagined it :)
The good thing is that I'm really not stressed. I sort of just think it is what it is and I'm getting married!! No matter what else happens that day - I'm getting married to my high school sweetheart after 35 years!!!!! It's amazing and awesome.
Pictures will be coming.....I can't wait to see how big Abigail has gotten since August. And to see all my grandchildren together and all my kids - it's such a blessing. I love my children and grandchildren so much!! And then to be marrying Roland is just the icing on the cake. I'm an truly happy.

Rain, a Tribute to the Beatles
Well, they sounded good, had the whole Beatles act thing down pat. For someone that isn't such a Beatles fan, I would say they are really good - but........for me, someone who absolutely has LOVED the Beatles my entire life, they were good, but creepy. Check out the link and then see what you think.....
Like it was creepy to see them posing in the same poses as the Beatles, like they were taking the place in history as the Beatles. I know it's just a show but it was creepy.
I'll just watch You Tube videos and be happy with that.

Knit Club
We need a place in the Mason/Landen/Maineville/Loveland area to meet once a month with about 4-8 people for Knit Club from 7pm-10pm or 11pm. We'd like it to involve comfy chairs, good lighting and coffee with seating for 4-8 people consistently.
We went to the Starbucks on Mason-Montgomery Rd last night and it was overrun by teenagers. No offense, but shouldn't they be at home doing their homework. They certainly weren't getting homework done at Starbucks!!!
If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know!

Look how big.....
It's great to be a grandma, again!!
Last night I was babysitting, so I got to take all sorts of pictures of Lyrikah. She's 7 weeks old today and my oh my, how she's grown. When she went to the Dr. last week she was a little more than 12 lbs!! She's starting to fill out and her little legs are definitely getting longer!! She tries to sit up, push off of you with her legs and her favorite place to be is hanging over your shoulder!! She reminds me of her mother.
While I was babysitting, we were looking at pictures of her cousin, Abigail. Remember when she visited in August? Well, it's only a month but check out these pictures that Michelle posted. Oh my little sweetie!! She is really getting big!
Michelle took a whole series of her in her stroller. She is a happy baby that's for sure, always smiling, strong, sitting up by herself, crawling and trying to walk!! And she's only 5 months old. I'm not sure when Michelle took these pics, but in a month she's grown so much!! She is definitely her Father's Girl!! Wow! The whole family will be here in November, there will be lots and lots of pictures of all of us that weekend. Can't wait to see Abi, Michelle and Jake!

Friend Inventory - it's NATIONAL GIRLFRIEND MONTH
Girlfriends: they are wonderful to have, a source of comfort, support, laughter, tears, help and I don't know what I would have done without them!! I consider myself VERY fortunate to have some friends for a LONG time.
1 since Kindergarten, too many years to even say them out loud.
1 since 7 grade, 12 years old.
1 since 1977
1 since 1997
and my newest for the last 1 1/2 years
It's easy to make "acquaintances" and I have tons of them. But it's not as easy to make friends, and honestly, it's best that way. Friends have to trust each other. They know too much about the other person and frankly, some of the things they know about you, they're the only ones that do. So, it's even more important that you trust each other.
I can't imagine what my life would be without my girlfriends. It would have been a sad and lonely place, that's for sure. They have been there with me through thick & thin, good & bad relationships, child births, wine nights, lamenting about a better life, happy to be alive, celebrations, weddings, breakups, house buying, car repairs, deaths, just to name a few.
Here's the sad part - over the years, I have found it mentally healthy to do a "friend inventory". You know, you look at the girlfriends you have and ask yourself, why am I friends with them? Positive? Negative? Who benefits? Is it TRULY a friendship? What would my life look like without them? Is my friend benefitting from being my friend while being a pain in the ass to me? (And we have all had a friend like that!!) It's ok to identify who and why you're friends. And if the friendship is still warm in your heart, great. But on the other hand it's perfectly alright to cut that person out of your friend list.
So, for all you women struggling with friends that are not nice to you, talk smack, stab you in the back, use you for "something" you don't want to be used for, I advise you to take the "friend inventory". Ask the tough questions, then make your decisions based on facts, not emotions. Good luck! Hope you find you have more friends that you love than you have to cut.

Knitting at Starbucks
This morning I had a morning meeting with a friend, she was late, so I had time to knit while waiting. I carry my knitting with me whereever I go because I never know when I will have a few minutes to knit. I used to always be on my computer, tweet incessently, but now, when I have a minute here or there - I knit.
I'm about 15% complete with my project, it's been 11 days since I started. But in the meantime, alot has happened on the personal front and that's taken a great deal of my time away. Things "appear" to be settling down, so let's hope that I can concentrate and finish my projects.
I'll be planning a wedding for Thanksgiving. I would like to knit a purse to carry that day - something glittery with beads. Maybe I'm not that experienced of a knitter to accomplish that, but I sure can try!!

I'd rather be knitting
Yep, it's true...no matter what I'm doing all day long, I look forward to the time when I can sit down and knit. I feel so creative and fulfilled, more than with any other craft I've ever done, well, except maybe crocheting. I love to bead because I love jewelry. But I love to knit so I can create.
But I'm working, taking a minute to write this down.....Got up super early this morning, did some work, pulled some weeds, am doing more work....and will have to pull more weeds. But tonight - I will knit.......... Ah...

Two week visit is over....
Two weeks really goes fast when you're having a wonderful time and did we ever have a wonderful time !! I was so blessed to have my daughter(-in-law) visit with Abigail. She is a great Mom, wife, daughter and friend.
We just got back from the airport, dropping them off to catch their plane. I know that Jake will be overjoyed to see his girls, but we were sad to see them go. But I did get to spend the most time I've spent with Abigail so far. She is an absolute delight. Here they are at the airport, and here's hoping / praying for a safe trip home.
Bye - hope to see you soon!! I love you!! Now off to start my 2nd knit project, a blanket for Abigail :)
